Good morning, it's my honor to stand here and give you this speech about dreams. There I want to start my speech with two short stories.
The first story happened when I was in primary school, I wrote in my composition that my dream was to be a teacher when I grew up. Meanwhile, what my classmates wrote about their dreams was that he or she wanted to be a doctor, a scientist or an astronaut.
The second story happened at my first year in university. At the careers planning class, when the teacher asked about our dreams, one of my classmates stood up and said, “I want to be a farmer, because I grow up in a farmer's family and I love to be engaged in agriculture.” When he sat down, everyone clapped.
These two stories happened during my growth process, from which I got my understanding of dreams. When I was a child I believed that a dream must be a big dream, but when I grow up I find this big dream is so far away from me, I know little about it, and I have done nothing to achieve it, so it's not my dream. My classmate's answer let me know a real dream is not just about being a great man, or doing a great , it's about what you really want to be, and are willing to try every effort to pursue it.
Because what makes a dream valuable is not just about the result, it's also about the process, the process when you are trying, when you are struggling, when you failed and restarted again and again, because of the process, dreams can be meaningful and become your wealth.

I am grateful for the opportunity to deliver my speech here after 7-days’ preparation with my friend Jinly. Thanks to Jinly’s strong support in our work. I think it is my way of saying thank you to you that giving an excellent presentation to all my friends here.
The subject of our presentation is “YOUR DREAM & YOUR GOAL”. During the next 10 minutes, we’ll give you a brief explanation of these stuff at the best of our knowledge.
First of all, I’d like to spent 3 or 5 minutes on discussing about the dream. When we were 5, they asked us what we want to be when we grow up. We answered like superman, princess, or in my case, a sailor moon. When we were 10, again they asked and the answer was policemen, doctors and some other high-principled jobs. But unfortunately, we finally found our dreams unrealistic as we entered a not-so-good high school, did not-so-good school works and went to a not-so-good direction in our life. I guess, many of you have thought about changing your dreams, but finally felt at a loss again. Yep! We’re adults and they are waiting for a serious answer. Well, how about this? WHO THE HELL KNOWS! Dream is only a dream. It’s unnecessary for us to think over our dreams all day long. You know, dreams always change, and this is not the time to make difficult decisions. But what do dreams do? Why do we still have an urgent need of dreams?
Think about it: do you have had a time when you were full of happiness just because you have made an achievement that pushes you a bit to your dream? Do you have had a time when you insist on what you were doing even the tears keep falling from your eyes? That is the power from dreams! May I equate the faith and the dream here? As we all know, aims and dreams are far from each other to some extent but close to each other on the other hand. Just like the parabola and the number line in mathematics. But it is the dream that help us to map out our aim and work out plans one after another in our life. Just like what Howard Schultz, the founder of the Starbuck said, Dreams are like the stars----we never reach them, but like mariners, we chart our course by them. And I believe that if you have a dream and make efforts step by step, some of you may extremely finish the quantitative change on the way to success and reach the qualitative change!
I would like to finish my part by a tongue twister: Whether the weather be fine or whether the weather be not. Whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot. We'll weather the weather whether we like it or not. Whatever you dreams are and however difficult it is to realize them. Reach your aim step by step and I believe your dreams will extremely come into truth!

Everyone has their own dreams, I am the same.
But my dream is not a lawyer, not a doctor, not actors, not even anindustry. Perhaps my dream big people will find it ridiculous, but this has beenmy pursuit! My dream is to want to have a folk life! I want it to become abeautiful painting, it is not only sharp colors, but also the colors are bleak,I do not rule out the painting is part of the black, but I will treasure thesebleak colors! Not yet, how about, a colorful painting, if not bleak, add color,how can it more prominent American? Life is like painting, painting the brightred color represents life beautiful happy moments. Painting a bleak colorrepresents life difficult, unpleasant time.
You may find a flat with a beautiful road is not very good yet, but I donot think it will. If a person lives flat then what is the point? Life is only ashort few decades, I want it to go Finally, Each memory is a solid.

你可能会发现一个有美丽道路的公寓还不是很好，但我不认为它会。如果一个人住在公寓里，那又有什么意义呢?人生只有短短的几十年，我要它走到最后，每一段记忆都是坚实的。

when i was in the primary school, i had a dream，i want to invent a device which could bring you from one place to another in no time at all. when i was in the secondary school, my dream was to study in my ideal university. and when eventually i got into the university, my dream was to graduate. how pathetic! when we grow up, we dream less and become more realistic. why? why do we have to change our dreams, so, so in order to let it be "fulfilled"? why do we have to surrender to the so-called "reality"? what is the reality actually?
ladies and gentlemen, the reality is not real. it is barrier keeping us from all possible fantasies. flying, for example, had been a dream to mankind for thousands of years. a hundred years ago, "man could not fly" was still regarded as the "reality". now if that was really the reality, what did the wright brothers do? how did some of you get to macao? only when we believe that the reality is not real can we soar with our dreams. people say that our future is a battle between the reality and our dreams. and if, unfortunately, ity wins this war, then i see no future of mankind at all. aids will never be curable as this is the reality; people living in the undeveloped countries will suffer from starvation forever as this is the reality; disputes among different countries would never be settled as this misunderstandings and intolerance is the reality.
ladies and gentlemen, how many of you have a dream of being able to make a lot of money? please raise your hands. oh, quite a number of you! actually, ladies and gentlemen, this is not a dream, but a task. every one of us has to make a living, right? anyway i hope your task will be accomplished. how many of you think hat you have already fulfilled your dream and that you don’t dream anymore? dear adjudicators, what do you think? s once said, "you are never too old to dream a new dream. "so for our future, please dream and be unrealistic. now that i am university student, my goal is to graduate with excellences. but at the same time, i have dream deeply rooted in our future. one day, people living in the areas now sweltering with the horror of wars will be able to sit with their families and enjoy their every moment. one day, from the rich countries are willing to share what they have with those from the poor countries and those from the countries will eventually be able to make their own happy living themselves. one day , different cultures in this age of globalization will coexist with tolerance and the unfriendly confrontations among them will be eliminated. one day, the globe will share the dream with me and we will all contribute to making our dream come true. one day, our dream will defeat the reality!

Ladies and Gentlemen:
It’s my great honor to stand here to share my speech with you. Today the topic of my speech is: The Pursuit of Dream.
Now let’s think of our old days as we were students in primary schools. Have you ever remembered that the teachers often ask questions as “what’s your dream?”, or “what are you want to be in the future?” and what’s your answer in that childish and fantastic age? Has anyone of you answered like this: “I want to be a painter”, or “I want to be a scientist”, or “I plan to be a police”?
A few years later, we start our new journey of study in high schools and become mature and practical in our mind. Then, have you ever changed your dreams? If so, what’s it?
But now, I think, most of us become down-to-earth and the dream is more practical than before. However, have you taken actions to pursue your dream? Are you working hard enough to make your dream come true?
As for myself, I have dreamed to be an excellent police in high school due to there are so many thefts in my hometown while they are seldom caught. Sooner I have realized how ridiculous am I and now I turn to realistic: I just want to be a translator.
How do I pursue my dream?
First of all, I try my best to correct the pronunciation and read the textbook or other English magazines such as: English weekly, English salon and the like. I try to do this day by day. Now I have improved my reading ability a lot and it also enlarged my vocabulary.
Secondly, I often do some translating extension and embrace my teacher’s suggestion. It benefits me much.
Last but not the least, I realize my dream by reading Chinese literature. Maybe you will say it’s what the Chinese major students should do. If you say so, you are badly wrong. For as an English major student, how can you know others well if you even don’t familiar with your country? On the other hand, it also benefits me in translation and writing.
In a word, I have already working in my dream. What about you?
